Technical Assistant – Meat Jobs

We are looking for a Technical Assistant for a Chilled Food Business in the Derbyshire area.

Our client is a leading chilled food manufacturer who supplies all of the top 4 UK Multiples with chilled food products. Due to growth they are currently looking to expand their Technical team. They are a multi site operation and have shown strong growth figures over the last five years.

Due to an internal promotion a role has arisen for an experienced Technical Assistant to join their technical team with a key focus on specifications. You will become a site specifications expert and will offer expertise to clients and internal departments. You will advise on legal safety and quality standards and will manage all the customer specifications and related systems.

This role requires candidates that have experience of retailer specification systems as well excellent interpersonal skills as you will be managing relationships with many retailers and external clients as well as internal teams including NPD and Quality.

The role of Technical Assistant – Chilled food Manufacturing

You will provide effective administration support to the companies operating site in terms of quality systems, food safety systems, specifications systems for all of the top four Multiple Retailers. Also prepare and report monthly KPI for retail customers as necessary. Provide system support for product micro trending/environmental swabbing trend/water sampling/complaints trend/ Weekly internal KPI’s and internal specifications

To assist and be the main contact point for production and purchasing in terms of maintaining the site Supplier Register and requesting ingredient and packaging specifications to ensure continuity of information, compliance with BRC and retailer requirements in line with current company policies.

Fault finding in the site Quality Management Systems against BRC requirements and notifying individuals responsible for completion or closure of non conformances.

To check internal documents for compatibility with the most recent issue or update for controlled documents relative to the Quality Management system.

To attend and minute HACCP and Technical meetings as required by the Site Technical Manager.

Maintenance of the supplier assurance register including the sending out of self assessment questionnaires when required in order to maintain records within the parameters set.

To maintain and provide analysis of the company AIMs system provided by external laboratory contracts to enable trending of routine results and maintenance of nutritional and analytical data.

Use of all major retail spec systems ( Asda Aspect, Sainsbury Inspire, Tesco TTL, Morrisons Enterprise, Co-op CORE and others).

Responsible for monitoring, with the site technical manager, the departmental budget for consumables as directed by the site technical manager.
