Our client is the world's leading nutrition, health and wellness company. Our products include food and beverages, cereals, confectionery, petfoods and waters. As of today, they employ over 270,000 people across more than 500 state-of-the-art facilities around the world.
Due to increased growth within their confectionery sales they are looking to strengthen their Confectionery R&D function at the Product Technology Centre in Yorkshire.
The Product Technology Centre is the leading centre for confectionery research and development worldwide. It provides ideas, technical innovations, engineering and scientific support into the product, process and packaging development.
• Consolidate project proposals
• Identify project proposals, evaluate technical feasibility of projects and propose solutions.
• Allocate section resources to projects based on priority.
• Start and review project work and support activities with together with section managers.
• Check quality of design work and inform management of project status.
• Promote innovation and propose new ideas and projects.
• Provide technical advice to factories concerning design and engineering.
• Maintain machine design competency to enable the design and build of special purpose machines.
• Management of a design team which incorporates 10 design engineers.
• Assist in the recruitment process, training and development of people on a short term basis to ensure high quality competencies.
• Establish SMART objectives: develop, coach and appraise direct reports.
Personal Specifications:

The type of person we are looking to fill this Chief Design Engineer role will demonstrate:

You will have at least 10 years experience as a machine designer, you will have managed a team and have the ability to motivate a team of highly creative design engineers. You will have experience of project management and meeting timescales and deadlines set within a manufacturing environment. High levels of communication and influencing skills are essential. High Level of competence in CAD, BSc/HND in engineering or technology or 15 years experience in machine design.

• Trust: Be able to keep confidences and promises to your colleagues, peer group and team members and ensure that the company values are adhered to at all times.

• Simplicity / Innovation: Keep the work ethic simple whilst being innovative and forward thinking when running your Department so that everyone can play a part in it.
